About natural learning and home tuition

This website is about natural learning in connection with efficient methods of motivating and enthusing learners for important learning content.

A child – and I believe an adult as well – learns best in a familiar environment and with familiar people. Just think that a small child even learns its first language and how to walk, i.e. the most fundamental abilities and skills, completely without a school and pedagogues with a university degree, simply from its parents and siblings or from other  carers. Home tuition was and is still customary in many countries (situation in 2010). The world famous German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) was also taught at home. Many great German poets, such as Friedrich Hölderlin (1770-1843) and also great German philosophers, such as Kant (1724-1804), Fichte (1762-1814), Schelling (1775-1854) and Hegel (1770-1831) as well as the German philosopher and educationalist Johann Friedrich Herbart (1776-1841) temporarily earned their living as home teachers. I would like to make a bridge to this outstanding tradition from the times of high German culture.

 

For this I provide my work as a home teacher worldwide for both children and adults.

Apart from my services as a home teacher, if required I can also coach schoolchildren and students, even if they have decided to attend a school or university or do further training online. Introduction

As a result of my work as personal coach and education coach, I have found that individual support and mentoring, particularly in the field of learning and working, is far superior to the otherwise usual mass processing to be found in schools and universities.

Only in this way can children and adults gain an optimal and comprehensive education, which is above all in touch with reality. The earlier in life you start with individual education instead of collectivist schooling the better.

Natural learning is an excellent alternative to the rather unstimulating state school system. You or your children will thus learn in a creative and self-determined manner, not only at home but also in external courses, organized activities, exhibitions and suchlike.

Character development also includes schooling the will, stamina, perseverance, mental flexibility, willingness to sacrifice and public spiritedness (not to be confused with enforced collectivism). In addition, cultivating good manners and training of situational flexibility with regard to manners.

15.Development and mastery of mental and spiritual powers (not to be confused with spiritism and black magic) such as spiritual healing, telepathy, empathy, telekinesis, levitation, photokinesis, electrokinesis, gravokinesis, and other things. In this way skills are fostered internally instead of through the development of external or technical aids as is generally done in today’s civilization (with the known negative side-effects, such as increasing dependence on technology or destruction of the environment and health). These abilities are of themselves neutral in value and comparable to other abilities such as walking, speaking, reading and writing. It depends on the power and responsibility of the person concerned if they are used for good or harm. Therefore character formation and development of responsibility for the consequences of your own actions and the early development of a marked sense of responsibility are particularly important.

German language, literature and philosophy

In the following I would like to give an example of how the tuition might proceed if you and/or your children would like to learn German.

We learn our mother tongue completely without schools or trained teachers. As small children we simply learn by listening, intuitively grasping meaning and imitation, particularly of the people closest to us. Those are generally our parents and in some cases our siblings.

If we learn our mother tongue in this natural way, it makes sense to try and learn a foreign language like this, too. I have tried it and I can say that I learned far more in this way in a few weeks than in several years of school lessons.

I would like to share this experience with you. If you cannot speak German or not perfectly enough but would like to learn it, I will teach you in my natural, non-academic method. Thus, you do not need to drill grammar or vocabulary in isolation but you learn the German language completely naturally in the process of our communication.

Do you want to know exactly how that works? Then try it and see! I do not follow a rigid concept but individually tailor my tuition to your needs. To avoid misunderstandings I should stress that I may very well make use of various aids such as books, etc. This is essential at the latest when you learn to read and write German script. But normally we will start with you learning to understand and speak the language on a basic level.

Building on this basic knowledge of the German language, I can then, if appropriate, also introduce you to German literature, philosophy etc. and read and discuss original German texts. You can find more about German philosophy and literature on my website www.germanspirit.org. 

Summary

Within the scope of extensive personal mentoring you will receive as far as possible support in all education-related matters. I can, on the one hand, teach you myself, either online or if required at your home and, on the other hand, I can organize the educational program completely for you and/or your children and arrange for suitable teachers, courses, etc.

Methodology

Within the scope of my service as a home teacher or education coach, I organize the implementation of a comprehensive and naturalistic educational concept for you and/or your children. This of course includes the use of various educational services, courses, private tuition by different teachers, etc. and takes place mainly by way of natural and applied learning. I can also teach you and/or your children myself – for example in German language, literature and philosophy – and also introduce you to other subject areas.

In this I cater to your individual inclinations and preferences or those of your children since only in this way can you and your children remain highly motivated and achieve outstanding success.

I direct the learning process in such a way that you or your children are encouraged and enabled to familiarize yourselves largely independently with the new fields. I see myself as a mentor and coach rather than a schoolmaster in teaching and instructing. My motto is that the learning goal has been reached when the students have got ahead of their teacher.

I explicitly distance myself from the collectivist learning methods in schools, particularly in the state schools. Here I assure you that I have neither studied pedagogy, trained as a teacher or anything similar nor worked as a teacher in a state school.

I categorically refuse to treat all children in the same way as the state does. Quite the contrary, I pursue the aim of awakening their innate creative power, releasing their inner forces and individually fostering their special talents.

As far as possible and desired, I will coach and/or instruct you and/or your children outdoors, for example in the forest, on the beach, or in your garden. Tuition indoors in closed rooms, sitting on chairs for hours, is not suited to children and neither is it very advantageous for adults. The body needs exercise in the fresh air – especially with children – for a healthy development.

I provide coaching, tuition, consultation, and mentoring for all age groups from small children to senior citizens.

Long-lasting and extensive mentoring or tuition (over weeks, months, or years) in general promises more lasting success than just a short-term consultation, depending of course on your requirements.

Organisation

Home tuition in the traditional way requires me to be present with you in person. The extent to which this is possible depends in particular on the visa formalities in your country. In Europe I have no problems concerning this as a German national. In other countries I will clarify the situation with the officials concerned.

If you wish me to teach you in your home over a long period, I need a room in your home or a flat in the direct vicinity of your home with a high-speed internet connection and facilities for preparing raw food. I avoid houses where people smoke, burn joss sticks or use perfume. It would be especially agreeable to have a garden or park or, even better, a wood or a beach near my accommodation for recreation and relaxation.

The requirements mentioned do not necessarily apply for all home teachers that I can arrange for you if you wish.

My prices depend on the type, scope, and duration of the services and can be freely negotiated. The initial conversation is free of charge and without engagement and serves to get to know each other, develop trust and reach an agreement so as to decide if and what services I can provide you with and on what conditions.

Excellent teachings about German culture, internet and more

As a Chinese woman I am proud to have an excellent German teacher by my side. He has taught me a lot about old German culture, the great German writers like Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Friedrich Hölderlin and others, also about German philosophers like Immanuel Kant and last but not least about the great German musicians like Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven.

He has told me where to find many special websites and films on the internet related to issues I am interested in like health, vegan diet, animal protection, culture and alternative news (this means news that is usually not to be found in the mainstream media).

It is very useful for me to improve my English by listening to English talk radio stations. In this way I can even get used to different varieties of English like American or British English.
